Our clinic has been operating in our purpose built facility in the Mairangi Bay area for over 30 years. We believe in providing the trusted, high quality veterinary services we would want for our own pets and in going the extra mile for all of our patients and clients.

Our team are all based locally and are dedicated pet owners who bring a caring, empathetic and passionate approach to patient wellbeing.

We provide veterinary care for dogs, cats, rabbits and small “pocket pets” and even the occasional bird. We’d love to help you look after your best friend.

Meet the Team

Dr Nicholas Smith Senior Vet / Practice Manager

Dr Nick grew up locally in Torbay and went to school at Westlake Boys, so he drove past the clinic almost every day for 5 years. Eventually after training as a vet and working around the world, he returned full circle to buy the practice from Dr Chard.

Dr Nick's special interests include management of allergies, care of older geriatric animals, safe anaesthetics and a focus on pain management. He also completed a veterinary post graduate degree while practicing emergency medicine in 2017.

Doris Lei Veterinary Technician

Doris is our very talented and efficient veterinary technician. Not only can she speak excellent English but she is also fluent in Mandarin which our Chinese clients find extremely helpful!

Doris is a very intuitive and responsible staff member who will always go the extra mile to make sure that we get the best possible outcomes for each of our patients.

Emily Callaghan Veterinary Nurse

Emily is our super efficient, surgically focused veterinary nurse. She has excellent energy around animals who really respond well to her.

Emily has a particular interest in anaesthesia and all aspects of surgical nursing and is in charge of keeping all our spaces well organised so we can react quickly in any animal emergencies.

Rachel Ankersmit

Rachel is the newest addition to the North Harbour team She has her Vet Nursing Certificate and is currently studying towards her diploma.

Rachel has a naturally calm energy with the patients and has particular interest in animal behaviour.
